Provides the skills and competencies to work effectively in an industrial situation.
Previously known as the BTEC National Certificate in Construction or Civil Engineering
The course is designed to meet the requirements of today's Building & Civil Engineering Technician, and give them the necessary skills and competencies to work effectively in an industrial situation.
This qualification also forms part of the framework for the level 3 advanced apprenticeship along with the Construction Contracting Operations L3 NVQ

Structural Mechanics in Construction and Civil Engineering
Measuring Estimating and Tendering Processes in Construction and the Built Environment
Building Technology in Construction
Planning Organization and Control of Resources in Construction and Civil Engineering
Building Surveying in Construction
Construction in Civil Engineering
Setting out processes in Construction and Civil Engineering
Further Mathematics in construction and Civil Engineering and Building Services Engineering
Applicants that don’t have these qualifications may be admitted after interview under special circumstances.
The award of the certificate is by retained continuous assessment and an externally set and assessed, Integrated Vocational Assignment in your second year.
Satisfactory completion of the course will allow you to continue your studies at Higher National Certificate level or possibly gain entry to a degree course.
Students aged 16-18 years
The government funds the majority of courses for students aged 16-18 years.

Students aged 19-23 years
Some courses are subsidised by the government. You may be entitled to a discount for these courses dependant upon your circumstances.
2013/14 Fees for this course are: Year 1 £1146.50, Year 2 £1042.50
Students aged 24+ years
Some courses up to Level 2 are subsidised by the government. If you are applying for a Level 3 or Level 4 course, you may be eligible to apply for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan; for further information visit www.lincolncollege.ac.uk/plus24
