Learn the basics of double entry bookkeeping.

This course is designed for those wishing to improve their knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping.

Content

The completion of financial documents such as:

  • Invoices and Credit notes.
  • The recording of cash and credit transactions in books of original entry.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Understanding the petty cash imprest system and trial balances

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but candidates should have good numeracy and literacy skills.

Due to the short duration of this course, there is a minimum attendance requirement of 100%.  C&G exams, where applicable, are scheduled for the final week of the course.

Start dates for 2016/2017:

September to November - One evening per week - 5.30 to 8.30 pm.

Students' work is assessed via a one and a half hour exam, marked by the awarding body, City & Guilds. Successful completion of the course leads to the award of a C & G Award in Bookkeeping & Accounts Level 1.

Progression

On successful completion of the Level 1 course, students can progress onto the Level 2 Bookkeeping & Accounts course.

The course fees for 2015/16 are: Bookkeeping Level 1 £193.00 Bookkeeping Level 2 £245.00 Computerised Accounts £217.00 These are all FULL COST courses, so no fee remission is available.
