Duration:You will study on a part time basis for one academic year, from 2.00pm - 8.30pm on a Monday.
This is a programme designed for progression from the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing VRQ/NVQ, the practising hairdresser or salon owner.
This programme comprises of specialised hairdressing techniques including:
Provide client consultation services
Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
Creatively style and dress hair
Creatively colour and lighten hair
You will also have the opportunity to study the below optional units:
Provide hair colour correction services
Develop, enhance and evaluate your creative hairdressing skills
Create a variety of permed effects
Contribute to planning and implementation of promotional activities.
You will be given the opportunity to attend trade shows and seminars as well as getting involved in competition work.
Students must have completed the VRQ/NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing, have a 90% attendance rate and a satisfactory reference. Relevant practical experience will be taken into account.
As a level 3 student you will be required to use your new skills in the salon as part of your working day as a practicing hairdresser or as part of your work placement in a locally based salon. This will then prepare you for assessments within the college to enable you to achieve your qualification.
On completion of this programme, students may progress onto the Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management course or into teaching or assessing. This qualification also leads to employment on Health Farms and Cruise Liners.

This course is subsidised by the government. You may be entitled to a discount dependent upon your circumstances.
