If you want to work in the performing arts, technical theatre or music this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you a basic introduction to the world of theatre and performance and help you to learn more about acting, dance, music and technical theatre. During the course, you will have experience of performing and organising shows and productions. You can develop your drama, singing, music and dance skills while working in a theatre setting and experiencing the different types of jobs available, different types of performance, rehearsal and production skills. You will meet and work with professional practitioners from industry and see live professional shows and events. When you complete successfully you may be able to progress onto a Level 2 in Performing Arts programme, enabling you to further develop your skills and knowledge and plan your career. You will be based in our own dedicated theatre workshop space in Newark.
You will need an Entry level qualification and an interest in the theatre. You will be required to attend an interview. You are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The final project is graded pass, merit or distinction.
