If you want to pursue a career in creative media production then this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress through the levels of creative media production. Using a combination of HD video cameras, digital SLR cameras, Apple Mac computers and state of the art editing software, you are free to experiment with many different styles and techniques to produce a number of media products that will look great on your show reel. You can progress onto the BA in Lens Based Media or other HE courses or employment within the sector. During the course, you will study: film-making; television; advertising and marketing; radio; photography and Photoshop; print media; music video; scriptwriting; editing and special effects. This qualification is awarded by the prestigious UAL Awarding Body, widely regarded as the best university for the Creative Arts in Europe. Established over 150 years Lincoln College of Art and Design at Christ's Hospital Terrace (in the Cathedral Quarter) will be your base. CHT has excellent media facilities including a dark room, 5 MAC suites, photography and media studios.
You will need either 4 GCSE’s preferably including English Language (minimum Grade 4), a Level 2 Diploma in Media or directly-related subject and have a GCSE in English (minimum Grade C) or produce a creative portfolio of audio/visual work with appropriate work experience. You will be required to attend an interview and are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The final project is graded pass, merit or distinction. The qualification is equivalent to achieving 3 A levels
