If you want to pursue a career in food and beverage service then this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress through the levels of hospitality and catering to a high standard.
Successful completion of this programme will allow you to begin a career in the food service industry or develop your skills with further education.
During this course you will explore theoretically and practically the following topics at an appropriate level to begin working in food and beverage service: Food Safety in Catering; Introduction to Employability in the Catering and Hospitality Industry; Health and Safety Awareness for Catering and Hospitality; Legislation in Food and Beverage Service; Food and Beverage Service Skills; Dealing with Payments and Bookings; Bar Service Skills; Hot Beverage Service Skills; Developing Skills for Employment in the Catering and Hospitality Industry; Principles of Customer Service; Principles of Beverage Product Knowledge; Legislation in Food and Beverage Service; Service of Hot Beverages; Handling Payments and Maintaining the Payment Point and Menu Knowledge and Design.

You will need 4 GCSE's to include Mathematics and English Language (minimum grade D). You will also be required to pass an entry test and demonstrate a sustained commitment to succeed. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
Assessment is a combination of practical assessments, assignments and short answer tests.
