Skills for Progression This is a one year programme for learners whose ultimate goal is to access mainstream college programmes or gain employment but who require an additional year to mature and develop emotionally or socially. This course supports learners who may have had negative experiences in previous educational settings who may have emotional / behavioural / social issues. Academically they are typically functioning at GCSE level / Entry 3 or Level 1 (with no previous Level 2 or higher qualifications). Vocational option routes for learners are Care, Construction, Paint & Decorating, Hospitality & Catering, Car valeting/Enterprise, Retail, Customer Care or Sport.

You don’t need any formal qualifications to apply but it is advisable that you are working at entry level and show willingness to work and a desire to progress.
You will undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment during the interview process, to determine the correct level of study.
Assessment is a combination of practical activities and collation of work in a portfolio.
