This entry level programme is designed for school leavers and young people who need extra support with learning. You will achieve a greater sense of independence and self-confidence by building on skills and strengths. This course is for students wishing to work in the Motor Industry but who are unable to access mainstream provision. You will gain knowledge and understanding by working on real vehicles and vehicle components in our well-equipped workshops. The pace of study is more relaxed than mainstream education so this gives you an opportunity to build confidence both as an individual, and as part of a team.
Upon completion of this programme, you are able to progress onto either the Skills for Progression or a level 1 programme if appropriate. You may also be able to progress into employment within your chosen vocational area. Careers advice will be given throughout the course to help you make this decision.
During this course, you will study: health and safety; an introduction to the vehicle maintenance and repair sector; planning and organising for vehicle maintenance and repair; carrying out vehicle maintenance and repair operations and personal work skills.

You don’t need any formal qualifications to apply but it is advisable that you are working at entry level and show willingness to work and a desire to progress.
You will undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment during the interview process, to determine the correct level of study.
Assessment is a combination of practical activities and collation of work in a portfolio.
