This programme is ideal if you wish to pursue a career in the Welding and Fabrication sector. The qualification will help you to develop your practical and theoretical knowledge to assist in gaining a career in the welding/general engineering industry.
Your qualification may lead to occupations such as: Welder, Fabricator, Plater, General Engineer, Engineering Repair and Construction, Motor vehicle body repair worker, or Armed Services Personnel. On successful completion of the Level 2 programme, further study routes include a full apprenticeship programme, ABC 165 Level 3 Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Practice or ABC 165 Level 3 Diploma in Welding and Fabrication Practice.
The units you will be studying are: Health and Safety in Welding; Science and Calculation for Welding; Manual Metal Arc Welding; Metal Inert Gas Welding; Tungsten Inert Gas Welding.
You don’t need any formal qualifications to apply however the nature of both the learning and assessment required for the qualification is such that you will need literacy and numeracy skills. An ability to understand and carry out exact instructions is essential due to the nature of the activities. You will also be required to pass a trade test as-well as a literacy and numeracy test.
Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.
